    I have a Yahoo account.
    I have a delicious account.

They apparently don't know about each other even though the username is the same - i.e., my passwords are different - why is that?

Specifically, I would expect my delicious activity to show up on Yahoo updates/profiles page, but I can't seem to figure out how to link them...

When will delicious integrate with Yahoo usernames?

Before becoming part of Yahoo!, Delicious was its own company, and Delicious has maintained its separate account system since then. We plan to eventually allow people to connect their Yahoo! and Delicious accounts, but we don't yet have specifics about when.

You can now register a Delicious account using your Yahoo! ID. See our latest blog post: http://blog.delicious.com/blog/2009/10/delicious-is-now-about-you-too.html

...and we are planning to introduce the ability to merge your accounts in the not-too-distant future, so if you don't want to have to export your data, and re-create bundles etc, then you might want to wait for this.

It's worth mentioning that at this point you can only create NEW delicious accounts with a Yahoo! ID.

We're still working on the ability to merge a current delicious account with Yahoo! -- support for that feature will be coming very soon.

Where would the most effective place be to request support for general OpenID? I'm fine linking a yahoo Id with my own domain, but I don't want to have to switch over to using a yahoo.com openID for delicious. Part of why openID is so compelling is to be able to tie my identity to my own URL that I own and control.

    Hi,

You probably need to ask the developers of whichever app you are using to update the app to work with yahoo based logins. Which app is it that you are using?

I don't currently know of a Delicious iPhone app compatible with the Yahoo! login system, although we have heard from developers who are working on this. For now, you might want to try the official mobile site, which is designed to work nicely on iPhones (although not as sophisticated as an app): http://m.delicious.com/

    Hi Øyvind,

If you visit http://m.delicious.com/login, there is a link at the bottom, which says "sign in with my yahoo id". If you click that, you should be able to enter your yahoo credentials and log in.
Delicious was actually bought by Yahoo! almost 4 years ago (http://blog.delicious.com/blog/2005/12/yahoo.html)

I am a long time Delicious user and I enjoy my personal account. The problem is that I work in Higher Ed and I recommend the tool to use with online courses to set up a collection of course resources. I like to get it started for instructors by creating a generic login/password for them. Now that it is tied to Yahoo ID this is a problem for me because I don't want the course delicious account be tied to ME or my yahoo ID. Any suggestions on getting around this? ALSO, if I need to ask the instructor to initiate the account using their Yahoo ID will they be able to create 2 separate accounts? Usually one for personal and one for a course, and sometimes multiple but separate courses.

    help,
    thanks!

    Hi Nicole,

Yes, if you're going to be setting accounts up for others, you don't want them tied to your id. If they already have a Yahoo account, you can just direct them to https://secure.delicious.com/login, and then get them to click the "Sign In with your Yahoo! ID" link. The only step after this is to select the url where they'd like their bookmarks to appear. If they don't have a Yahoo account you can either guide them through that, or create one for them.
As with existing Delicious accounts, it's one account per id, so if you need multiple Delicious accounts, you'll need multiple Yahoo account.
