Hi, Working.wise,

I'm Nathan, one of the resident web developers on Delicious.

Basically, what you're asking for requires some knowledge of Javascript -- the language we're using to print out the feed. Without knowing how to write Javascript, you're going to be fairly lost. And we don't typically want to get into situations where we're writing custom scripts for our users (that would take up a LOT of time; time better spent fixing bugs or writing building new site features).

But since the week of Thanksgiving is upon us, and our team is feeling particularly thankful for our jobs and our product and our users, we've taken the liberty of writing out a custom script that does exactly what you want.

First, go into your code, and add in the tags around the links you want in your notes. Just do one bookmark for now, to give it a test. You might need to experiment with including or not including the "" tags in the link -- I find something like this works: test.com

Next, simply copy and paste the following code into your page, and remove the other

Yikes, have spent the whole day slugging away at this problem. Found out how to export as html, but it's just too cumbersome to maintain the page this way. To recap, I have this page: http://www.workingwise.co.nz/news.html. All I want to do (if nothing else) is to make the URLs in the notes section clickable. Doesn't matter if its done by some kind of code on the page itself, or at the Delicious server end.

I can't believe this isn't possible!

I would love for there to be an option where we can see a list of bookmarks that do not include a certain tag.

For example, I choose my 'fic' tag and it shows all of my bookmarks with that tag. Let's say I'm actually looking for a specific bookmark, but I can't remember what it's titled. I do know that it's not tagged with 'star trek'. I would love to be able to click on something so then I can look at all of my bookmarks with the 'fic' tag that also do not include the 'star trek' tag. This would really help to narrow down searches when I'm looking for something specific, but can't remember enough from tagging, etc. to make it easy to find on delicious.

I hope my explanation makes sense.

Hi working.wise,
Unfortunately, allowing html to be inserted into the site would allow malicious users to change the publically displayed data in ways that would not benefit anyone (for example, spammers could insert text with huge fonts that would take over the page, large images and more).
For the styling of the text, you can disable all the delicious styling by adding "&style=none" to the linkroll call you are using, and specifying your own CSS styles for the html markup that the linkroll inserts.

If you want to have turn urls into links, add images etc, you can parse the data from the feed directly, and markup as you like. (eg call http://feeds.delicious.com/v2/json/working.wise?count=20&callback=yourcallback) and then creating a function called "yourcallback" to handle the data that is returned.

Hope this helps,
Chris

It's somewhat useful actually, thanks. Kinda like the recent bookmarks toolbar view for Firefox (but certainly not the excellent sidebar). I actually like it without tags for this view, using &tags=no (ironic, since tags are why I use delicious), because it reduces clutter since their isn't any formatting. However it looks like I could add some formatting with some effort and hosting my own page. What would make it more useful is if I can put a text input at the top which would use /TAGNAME address to sort by tags. This would probably take 10 minutes if I was a little more in touch with my web design past, but I might be able to swing it. Unless, of course, someone at Delicious wants to take a crack at it...

dana6:

Yahoo! passwords keep a lot more than bookmarks private and safe, like e-mail and financial information. Delicious doesn't absolutely need to know your Yahoo! password, so we're not allowed to ask for it. Not even just for a minute while we verify who you are. Information wants to be free. The most reliable way for Delicious to keep your Yahoo! password secure is simply not to know it at all.

I think we've done pretty well within our constraints. Of course, there's always room for improvement. We welcome suggestions to improve our dual-login system, but at this time we can't get rid of either login procedure.

Hi,

Occasionally i find myself adding a bookmark i've already added months earlier, because I don't find it near the top of my bookmarks on Delicious. I may have forgotten keywords that would expose it via a search too! Once added again, it does not appear at the top of the list as I would expect. To my mind its irrelevant that the bookmark already exists. The timestamp should be updated to be recent so that when I come back to Delicious the bookmark appears at the top of the list. I don't just use Delicious to store bookmarks for shared access across multiple PCs, I use it as a reminder of what interesting things I've found on the Net that I should revisit. I'm sure I'm not alone in this. If i happen to stumble apon something years later and add it to Delicious even though I've added it before, I would like it to be considered recent again. The way it is now, I might log in a few days later and find the bookmark has 'vanished' when in reality its just way down the list.
